Hi! I’m Lauren, and I’ve always loved math games.
It’s probably no surprise that I grew up to become a financial planner. But math games aren’t just for people who have an affinity for math. I played all of those games with friends who didn’t necessarily enjoy math as much as I did.
After I graduated college (and before I became a financial planner), I joined Teach for America. I taught first graders in Atlanta how to tell time, count coins, and do other basic math skills. Whenever I could, I used games in the classroom, including one of my all-time favorites: Around the World with flashcards.
I still love playing games today, and fortunately I get to do it pretty often. I’m married to a game designer (Shaun of The Master Theorem Games). Through his company, we travel to game conferences around the US, where we get to meet other game designers and test their games.
There are so many great games out there that aren’t necessarily sold at big box retailers. That’s where the idea for Math Games Are Fun came from. Through writing reviews of the games we play, I hope you’ll find ideas for your next game night or family vacation.
Most of the games we play are easily available on Amazon. If you click on one of my links to purchase the game, I may earn a small commission. You can read more here. Thank you for helping support Math Games Are Fun!
If you have a game you think I should review (or any other feedback), I’d love to hear from you. Drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
